About the EU Film Festival

EUFF10   "The European Union Film Festival has
become the de facto cultural calling card of
the most potent economic force on Earth."
Mark Harris, GEORGIA STRAIGHT

"Outside of the Vancouver International Film
Festival, the EU festival is the only place to
see so many recent films from Europe in
languages as diverse as Bulgarian, Flemish,
Arabic, Slovenian and Hungarian.
"
Kevin Griffin, VANCOUVER SUN

PACIFIC CINÉMATHÈQUE AND THE EMBASSIES, CONSULATES AND CULTURAL
Institutes of the member states of the European Union are proud to present
Vancouver’s 12th European Union Film Festival, our annual finger-on-the-pulse showcase of acclaimed new and recent films from across greater Europe. This year’s event, like last year’s, is comprised of 26 outstanding features, with entries from 26 of the European Union’s 27 member states (only Malta is not represented). And, with a line-up that includes an abundance of national hits, international successes and prize winners, important first features by new talents, new films by old favourites, historical pieces, edgy black comedies, political thrillers, romantic romps, trenchant social dramas and offbeat gems, we can promise, as every year, a lively, provocative, stimulating and entertaining state-of-the-Union celebration of the diversity, dynamism and accomplishment of contemporary European filmmaking.
